Site description
BMAT (Boughton Monchelsea Amenity Trust) has eight sites for BNG offset units:
These sites are Walk Meadow, Campfield, Fulfields Park, Lagley Park, Reptile Site, Salts Wood, The Quarries and West Lyewood.
Walk Meadow - Walk Meadow is a 13-acre public open space located at the junction of Bottlescrew Hill and Cliff Hill. This area was an old grubbed out apple orchard but has been sensitively managed over the last 25 years to provide a variety of habitats for wildlife.
Fulfields Park - Furfield Park, off Brishing Lane provides 15 acres of public open space. The area is sensitively managed to maintain its rural feel. The site includes an area of ancient woodland which is carpeted in bluebells in late Spring.
Lagley Park - Langley Park is a beautiful natural space to the south of the housing development for all to enjoy. Wildflowers are in profusion, attracting a wide variety of insects and there is a protected area for nesting birds where skylarks are regularly heard.
Salts Wood - Salts Wood is a 13-hectare site off Hubbards Lane.
The Quarries - this 8-acre site is already an established woodland with an adjacent chestnut coppice. The woodland has been sensitively managed while the coppice has been harvested every 12 years. The site has an abundance of wildflowers and plants.

These units are valid for a maximum of two years, provided site conditions do not significantly change. If more than two years have lapsed between the site survey and habitat works being undertaken, an updated survey will be necessary to ensure recommendations remain valid.
