Clair Thackray
, BSc, MSc, PhDClair completed a BSc in Zoology with Marine Zoology at UCNW Bangor and a PhD in amphibian metapopulation dynamics at the Durrell Institute of Conservation Ecology (DICE). Field research experience alongside these studies included a BSc project on the evolutionary ecology of Canary Island wall lizards, a research assistant role at the University of Flinders in south Australia studying the population ecology of Sleepy lizards, and the role of UK scientific lead for a large-scale amphibian survey of La Laguna San Rafael National Park in Chile, in collaboration with Raleigh International.
Clair works partly within the strategic research team at Adonis, focusing on large scale monitoring of bat populations in Kent to inform and monitor the benefits of site management change at both site and landscape scale.
Clair also works within the protected species survey team and has a Level 2 bat survey license and GCN level 1 survey license. Clair has over 20 years' experience of working as a consultant ecologist in both company and freelance roles and prior to joining ABEC worked as a Biodiversity Officer within Kent County Council’s Ecological Advice Service for LPA’s.
