Site description
Forge Farm is located 1.15 miles to the east of Robertsbridge and 1.11 miles northwest of Staplecross.
The site comprises cereal crops, developed land; sealed surface, lowland mixed deciduous woodland, modified grassland, other coniferous woodland, other neutral grassland, ponds (non-priority) and individual trees. The site includes native hedgerows and lines of trees.
The majority of woodland on site comprises Plantation on Ancient Woodland Sites (PAWS) with a patch of Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland (ASNW) to the south of the site. The site is surrounded by woodland and arable fields with the wider area is made up of small villages, areas of woodland, arable fields and grassland.
Recommendations are for the other neutral grassland, lowland mixed deciduous woodland, non-priority ponds, individual rural trees, native hedgerows and lines of trees to be enhanced to a better condition. This will be achieved through grazing, planting, felling, pruning, natural regeneration, etc.
The modified grassland will be enhanced to mixed scrub and lowland mixed deciduous woodland. Part of the other neutral grassland will be enhanced to lowland mixed deciduous woodland and the other coniferous woodland will be enhanced to other mixed woodland. This will be achieved through planting, felling, natural regeneration, etc.
Other neutral grassland, other broadleaved woodland, lines of trees and hedgerows will be created in areas. This will be achieved mainly through planting and natural regeneration.

These units are valid for a maximum of two years, provided site conditions do not significantly change. If more than two years have lapsed between the site survey and habitat works being undertaken, an updated survey will be necessary to ensure recommendations remain valid.
